   Scott:

I purchased a Moto Fino Retro 125cc. It is made in China and is good quality. I purchased it from the distributor in Georgia. Only problem has been with opening mechanism for seat storage.

I was thinking about purchasing one of those myself. Is there anyone who can give a review of this scooter?

I bought a Motofino 125cc last September. I have had absolutely NO problems with it. I highly recommend it as an inexpensive entry into the world of scootering.
I have 300 miles on my scoot now and the only trouble has been the rear inside fender broke while going over a set of railroad tracks.
I use it exclusively in town for small errands to the grocery or the hardware store and the like.
I also have some trouble getting the seat latch to open sometimes.
All in all, a good review for this scooter company.
Andy

I bought a motofino 125cc retro model, and I love it. I also bought mine from the Georgia distributor. I haven't had any problems with it. The only thing is when they ship it to you, they ship it without the front wheel attached, so unless you're pretty mechanically knowledgable you should have someone else put it on for you. It's really a 2 person job (one to hold the scoot, one to put the wheel on.) You'll probably also need metric tools.

Motofino has pretty much every part you could ever want to order, and they're good about sending them (I cracked the floorboard on mine, supid mistake on my part). I ordered another one, and had it FedExed to me. Only took 3 days.

I purchased a 125 cc last July and have had a good experience for the most part. Same issues for the most part - fender fell off in the first week or so and the latch is touchy, but I have managed to work within its quirks.

Question - did you order parts directly from tom at Motofino? I have had some difficulty connecting with him the past few weeks.

The best way to order parts is to email dave@motofino.com.
Thanks,

hi i emailed dave with these same questions but maybe you can help too

ok here is the scoop, i bought one of the mf50-6 50cc scooters made by motofino, i like it and in only 4 months i have put over 1800 miles on it, but i do have a few issues and questions about them.

first things first is that i bought it on ebay and it didnt come with any instructions or repair manual\troubleshooting manual\schematics or anything like that. all i got was title and a "how to start
\ride guide"

there are a few things wrong with it, one being that my headlight burnt out and i have another one jimmy rigged into the left mirror slot, if at all possible could i buy another bulb? and how much will that cost?

another thing is i let a work buddy ride it today and he crashed it into a $40.000 truck, luckely it didnt harm the truck but my front (white'ish grey) blastic bumper thing is cracked all the way across the bottom, the person said he will reimburse me for the repair, so also can i get one of those? and again how much?

also if there is some kind of manual availible that would be much appreciated

all around i love the moped though, problems starting it, problems closing seat latch, problems closing trunk latch, and a weird grinding noise at 33 mph to max (40 mph)

thats what the manual would help me with because i only know of one oil recepticle and i know the crankshaftycasething needs oil too hehe.

please email me at reetismatic@hotmail.com if you can help me

questions again are:

1.service manual? how much?

2.front (white'ish grey) plastic bumper? how much?

3.headlight bulb? how much?

please include shipping costs in your answer and provide whatever you think might help me in the future

thanks, reetismatic

I have now had to order a new coil and spark plug from Motofino for my 125QT2. I spoke to Dave Jr. at Motofino on Monday the 17th. The coil and spark plug arrived Wednesday the 19th and I installed the parts and had the scoot running again in about 35 minutes (after putting all the cowling back on).
Once again, I have had nothing but good dealings with Motofino. And, once again, I have to say that Motofino is a good scoot for entry level ownership.

I'm surprised to see that the 125s are getting such good reviews because the 50s are junk. The 50s must be made somewhere else or by a different crew because I've got nothing good to say about them.

the 50s are actually made by the same people in the same factory by the same people. I own a motofino 50 qt-6 and have had nothing wrong with it. what makes you think they are junk?

The fact that mine is a piece of crap and has had nothing but problems since day one (see my other posting about this junk), also from all the emails I have gotten from people that have bought the Motofino 50s and have sent me a message asking for help with thiers. Thats what makes me think they are junk.

I also have a motofino 125cc retro scoot. Good bike. But I did have problems with getting into the trunk the first time. Was told the scoot was FULLY ASSEMBLED but I had to put on the front wheel as well. After a few week of riding around, actually on my way to the motorcycle store, the nut fell off the front fender. Luckily the mechanic was able to repair it and put lock tite on all of the nuts that needed it. I had alot of trouble with the trunk, until I spoke with someone at motofino (forgot his name now) he told me to unscrew the cover near the gas cap and spray wd-40 on the trunk release cable. Works great now.

I also had a bit of trouble at the DMV... for some reason they didn't like the security features on the certificate of orgin.... it took 4 trips to the DMV on 4 seperate days and several phone calls back and forth to motofino... I did eventually get a tag for the plate but it wasn't easy.

The air intake was haveing a problem. The mechanic said something about dry rot... I asked him to do his best to temporarily fix it, and he did. I turned up the idle a bit and now it seems to be working just fine. ALso the throttle cable is getting a little tight and if you pull too hard on the throttle, the throttle grip assembly (part with the mirror/ start/ kill switch) tilts and the mirror and gives me a view of my backtire instead of the cars behind me....

I really enjoyed this scoot, it was a great entry level bike for me. I took my motorcycle test on it and passed. It has a very nice feel too it compared to other chinese scoots that I've tried. But if a big semi truck passes you the wind will blow you over a bit. Overall I say this is a great bike for anyone that lives in the city and/or is travelling less than 5- 10 miles away.

Now I've upgraded to a "real" scoot a Piaggio BV 250. Nothing was really wrong with the motofino but it just didn't cut it for me since I live in the country and getting to the city is a bit of a challenge... due to other drivers on the road.

I have trying to trace down the manufacturer of these scooters for a while. It seems that are made by Lishan Vehicle Manufacturing Co. If you to www.pop-vehicle.com it will lead you back to Lishan. I am not sure what that means about quality. Their scooters are the same as Pioneer Scooters, see www.pioneermotorsusa.com. If nothing else pioneer has a part explosion available on line. I have been looking for a scooter for 3 months now with no luck. Here in Baton Rouge we have only 4 choices if you want an in-town dealer. Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki or TGB. All three of them are more that I want to pay for a 150cc. To add insult to injury the Vespa dealer that had to relocate from NOLA due to Katrina closed up shop here. They were to keep the shop here after the NOLA store was rebuilt. That will not happen. I just cant imagine that a town of 250,000 with a college student population of 75,000 can be such a scooter vacuum.

I have two Motofino Retro 125's. The sticker under the seat indicates Zhiejiang Taizhou Wangye Power Co. Ltd. I found this information using a search. http://www.ecplaza.net/tradeleads/seller/3932137/125cc_eec_gas_scooter_wy125t9eec.html

I typed up my experiences with them on the other board, since I don't consider them bad and for my only worry about legal being able to put tags on them in my state.

This is all making me crazy. I went to Zhie Jiang main page at www.globalsources.com/wangye.co, searched their scooters and there was the 125cc Motofino. The same item number too with the exception of the MF. Crazy.
