"Wildfire 150cc scooter"

Got a question for you folks out there. I am in the Dallas area and would like to find a place that sells Wildfires. I have seen them on ebay, but I'd rather deal face to face with a person. Also, Im a short 5' woman so I need to find out if it's going to be too much bike for me.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Dec's a broken record, but right. You're on the right track, however, by wanting to buy in-person from an actual dealer. You'll be happier and safer in the long run. If you want something pretty affordable, take a look at TNG, United Motors, or Baron. Or you might consider PGO & TGB, which cost more, but probably have higher quality. Some of the guaranteed can't miss quality brands that come to mind are Kymco, Yamaha, Honda. No matter what, buy from an actual dealer!

In contrast to Dec's (as usual) overstated opinion, they are not absolute crap. They run on par for quality just about even with Vento. I actually give the Wildfire's a slight edge on most because they ship with a larger battery that you don't need to mix acids to set up and less-problematic dash display.

I own two of these --> http://www.wildfiremotors.com/mall/WF150-S.php

I'm selling one becuase the GF doesn't really want to ride anymore (she is woman, hear her quibble.) In 2 months of actual riding weather, hers has ~400 miles on it, mine has ~600 miles on it. I bought them both at the same time in September from Wildfire's brick & mortar dealership/HQ in Steubenville, OH. I'm keeping one because I do enjoy riding it.

From setup, I've done all the maintainence and general wrench-turning. Here's a list of everything I've had to do/elected to do:

Scooter 1 (mine)

-Put the hadlebars/rearview mirrors together
-Change Oil
Out of the crate, the factory oil is water-thin. Switched to high-grade dino-juice for break-in
-Upgrade fuel lines
The stock fuel lines are actually vaccum lines. They worked, but I didn't trust them. I spent $3.40 in new gas lines and clamps, but I trust these a lot more now.
-Upgraded the headlights to an actual HID system
The stock headlights are adequate, but not great. Plus, I had a spare or two lying around from when I owned my car shop.
-Oil change #2
After 300 miles, I switched to 100% synthetic.

Scooter 2 (G/F's)

-Put the hadlebars/rearview mirrors together
-Change Oil
Out of the crate, the factory oil is water-thin. Switched to high-grade dino-juice for break-in
-Upgrade fuel lines
The stock fuel lines are actually vaccum lines. They worked, but I didn't trust them. I spent $3.40 in new gas lines and clamps, but I trust these a lot more now.
-Slightly up-tune the throttle to idle evenly
-Disassemble/Reassembe front brake assembly
The front brakes were assemble incorrectly. It would have stopped the bike, but it would have warped the rotor in under 100 miles very badly. I ordered new pads under warranty and had them in 2 days.
-Re-weld exhaust at the flange
The factory weld was weak and broke going over some rough train tracks. 10 minutes with the arc welder and 30 cents in bar stock and I was good to go. While I had it apart, I took apart/reassebmbled the entire rear end and made sure all the bolts were tight. I could have had this done by Wildfire or had them replace it under warranty, but I was anxious, and since I *could* fix it myself, I did.
-Added grip-tape to use instead of the floormat at the GF's request.

What I've found out about them, in general:

-Top speed is actually about 62 MPH. I actually have a little headroom left on the throttle at that point, but I'm afraid to get thoase last few MPH's out because...
-The need a wheel alignment/balance to ride properly. I don't have the proper equipment in my garage to do this. Yet. At 45 MPH + there's a slight shudder which gets worse as speed increases.
-The rear brake cable is in need of lubrication. It works, but it's grabby when you let go of the brake, but releases when you hit the throttle. I could fix this, but it hasn't really been an issue. Eventually, I will replace the compression soring on the rear brake and lube the cable. After winter finally goes bye-bye. Again. For real, this time.
-I wish the warranty were longer than 90 days.
-Wildfire actually DOES have parts for these. I've seen them, and I've had them sent to me.

There you have it. An initial owner's report. If you want to buy one, (150 cc is not too much bike for anyone, really) feel free to email me. dregan1000 AT sbcglobal.net) Including shipping and setup and everthing, I'm sure you can save some coin.

Well, your off to a good start. Don't buy anything without sitting on it first. At 5' there are very few scooters which will work for you. Even with lowering the seat you are probably still going to have issues. Its not just the seat height. But also with saddle width and the width of the floor boards.

Go to your local Yamaha dealer and check out the Yamaha Vino 125.
It will probably be you're best bet.

What kind of headlights do these scooters use? Are they like car lights? 9004, 9007 etc.

Thank you so much for all the help you've given me. The vino 125 sounds like the best so far. I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks
