Decent looking bike, but Peugot bikes haven't been DOT or EPA approved. You might be able to register, but if ever in an accident you could be hosed big time. Especially on any bike over 50cc. People get away with 50's because the laws are a mess. Over 50cc bikes the laws are properly sorted, there can be stiff fines and automatic liability. For example, you get nailed by a guy who runs a red light. Three cars pile up. YOU are found at fault for all damages as you are riding a bike on the road that is not legal. Beware of any bike that doesn't have DOT marks on the light lenses. The law and insurance inspectors are less familiar with engine stuff, so you can get by with upgrades in many cases. Any decent inspector or investigator will notice the lack of certification. Even if you have insurance, your insurance company might turn on you in order to avoid paying for damages. |
