Funny you should ask... I seem to be the point man with alot of people who settled down. made a career, had kids...la, la, la. Now, they have the discretionary income ta buy a bike (again) and get back into it. I've come to terms. I've never grown up and am a constant when it comes to this horrible "hobby". So... Yeah, 20 years later. They're back and riding. Yikes! Michael S. Burns >Of the people pictured in that video are any still riding? > >Enjoy, >John M. >i was likin the T5 closeup The red bike? I think that's just a Utah flyscreen. I did a double take on that and rewound it a few times too. You'd be pretty fucking hip to have a T5 in the USA in '85, as I think that is the year they came out. "You want to cripple the bastard? Send him a 130-mph cafe-racer. And include some license plates, he'll think it's a streetbike. He's queer for anything fast."

I was born in 85 too...damn I bet my bike was there though, everyone seems to know more about it's history than I do, but it's still running and going to rallys does that count. It has 2 wheels and an engine, anyone that doesn't like it can piss off! |

That's great! The fun of a bunch of scoots taking over the road and creating a spectacle has always been there. One of my favorite rally experiences from last summer was watching people's faces as we all toured through DC. Priceless!! I smell bacon. Do you smell bacon? |

Doesn't look like any 1985 I remember - where're all the big hair and shoulder pads? Looks like fun, wish we'd had that in Memphis... |

My thoughts exactly. It was all Bon Jovi and Camaros in the 1985 I escaped from. Spiny Norman

California had everything back then: mods, punks, rude boys, skins, rockers/stoners (we all knew a real-life Spicoli back then), new-wavers, surfers/skaters, etc., etc. - you name it, it was here and kicking... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Come join in on the longest running regular ride in all of Southern California: the SOUTH BAY SCOOTER CLUB's monthly ride! http://www.southbayscooterclub.com http://www.southbayscooterclub.com/sbsc/store.html

What's really nice about that video/year was there's no T&G's and no helmet law ! I have dirty fingernails to prove it.

I don't even think Malossi had products out for scooters yet. We could only dream of Piansco kits back then. And everyone pretty much had a stock pipe and carb. www.hardpacksc.com www.jettin.com |

I'm pretty sure Malossi had stuff by 86. After I moved from OC to Sacto at the end of 86, Dave Sattelmayer was running a Malossi kitted P that we all drooled over. David K In my dreams, I slash your tires. BTSC http://www.burgundytopz.com |

I have photos of some of the first scooter races in 85 at adams cart track and I remember Fabio had Malossi stuff on his vespa super shop scoots. I remember Polini kits as early as 83 on a few small frames, most notably Conrad macy/Dave andersons 90 with the 125 polini kit. Again this had to do with Fabio bringing this stuff back from family trips, etc.But it was a bitch to find seals for my gs 160 at the time. NOS stock was found by word of mouth, what schleisser would sell you, whatever some old man would drag to Vince's shop or plowing through Hemmings Motor news. There wasn't much big hair in the scooter set, save a few short term girlfriends, or goth/New Ro girls who would hang out. I do remember a few clowns selling their scoots after 8-9 mos 'cause they were going new-ro (the goth of the time) to fund their wardrobe change. Good times. good times. Craw-mods! Tony Suarez
