"How do you get rid of a Viet scoot?"

Put it up on ebay and say it belongs to your neighbor who had it passed down from his father. HA!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Lambretta-X150-Special-1964-Innocenti-2-seater_W0QQitemZ250000705442QQihZ015QQcategoryZ6722QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

It screams Vietnam resto. Been sitting in a garage for the last 4 years - never titled, hmm, wonder why?

Possibly one of the worst 2 tone paint color choices ever BTW. Might be blue and black but on my screen it looks blue and dark green. echh.

"It was totally restored several years ago and was driven around but never registered since restored................It has been sitting in his garage for about 4 years.........I am going to sell this scooter in as is needs restoration condition to protect myself........."

WTF is the seller trying to say??? "Someone is going to get a deal here."

Where can I get one of these screws to hold my kick start rubber on? I don't see it referenced in Sticky's book.

So what about this bike seems asian resto. I being serious. I'm far from being a lammy expert. I've seen lots of Vespa asian shit buckets but I don't know what to look for in a Lammy. Apart from a ugly paint job and stupid seats it doesn't look too bad.

   Italian Lammy or Viet Lammy?
Could the difference in quality really be that much?
They all look the same to me, cheap copies of the real thing…

That floor mat only comes from one place. The speedo, seats, ignition switch, rear badge, and rear rack are all asian. I can't tell the make of the tires but they look asian. Both the fuel lever and the choke lever are installed backwards. That alone should disqualify this from being called a "restoration"... I mean if you can't do that right, what hope is there for the motor etc.

Don't forget the use of fork link buffers as the side panel anti-rattle rubbers, as well as the motorcycle electronics/battery, the rubber gaiter on the front brake cable, the "chromed" exhaust, the desk drawer style lock on the toolbox, and the little red plastic caps on the ends of the control cables.

"Someone is going to get a deal here"....well, they're going to get something, and I bet they won't like it.

On second look the right side engine mount is tottaly shot also. Lets not forget there are 2 zero feedback bids on there as well. Even if it was worth buying it I wouldn't just beacuse of that (possible shill bidding).

I dunno. The seller has a LOT of positive feedback and no negative feedback. I don't think he'd risk his eBay reputation getting terrible feedback on a crap Vietscoot if he knew that's what it was. Did anybody email him and ask?

he likely doesn't know it's a pile of poo. the screw through the kick rubber and rear badge are classic nammy bodges...not to mention the floorboard matt & strips, chrome case, and exhaust.

One other detail is that they didn't start making the SX150 until 1966.

I think it's a viet resto, a bad one at that. Some of them look nice until you look closely and find all the wrong things but this looks urrgghh as well as having all the wrong things!

Cheers,

Ian

Burn it. Ihad to work on a SX Viet resto for an old customer. This one even looked pretty ok'ish. $3000+ later it was good to go. My fav. was when Chelsea went to Washington D.C. to pick one up for a commision resale. Strapped it down and the frame snapped in half. A vespa doing that I can understand, but a Lammy? Burn it again.

at least this hunk o'crap has a rear hub lock ring. the rest of it is shit, but that rear hub will not come off for at least the remainder of the bike's 30 day warranty (another viet favorite).

I disassembled mine and sold off the bits that were any good. Side panels were okay as was the horncast and headset, and gastank. Frame was decent too. Legshield and mudguard were bondo city, though. And most of the engine went in the trash.

I emailed him on it and asked for the Vin. He email it back and the frame belongs to a 1959 150 LI Series 2. That's where my questions ended.

So if the Italian Lammy is always breaking down (when they work they can be fast and fun, but they don't work often) will the Vietnam resto ever work. I can just imagine that ting on the road, I'll give a Vietnam restoration about 500ft before it doesn't work for a month and after that just add 250ft after every time you fix it with good parts.

It has 2 wheels and an engine, anyone
that doesn't like it can piss off!
