Re: Gearbox oil

in response to Newbie:

: A) What should I use to replace the ancient gear oil in my '65 Vespa 150 gearbox? The scooter runs great, but I'm sure the oil's over 5 years old in this engine.

I like Castrol 30w. Here is a short cut for you for changing oil.. go to your local beauty supply shop and get an empty hair dye bottle. The nozzle size of the bottle fits perfectly into the top oil drain hole.

: B) What should the tire pressures be for a single 200-lb. rider?

The best thing to do is check the side of your tire and find out what it is rated for. It is usually stamped on it. My guess: Somewhere between 28psi-32psi depending on the tire, temperature and road condition.

Hope that helps!!
